The grey water system is organised in such a way as to collect the discharges of: washbasins, showers and bidets and fan-coils, in the secondary collection tanks (3) from which these are sent to the main 208-litre tank located in the bilge below the dunnages in the access corridor to the VIP cabin.
From the tank, through a pipe that reaches the grey water pump (2) located in the engine room, the water is discharged into the sea through a drain (5) located in the engine room.
he grey water pump is controlled from the bridge control panel.
The grey water system also includes some Rule compartments (4), to collect fan-coil condensate.
These cisterns are internally equipped with an emptying pump that is automatically activated thanks to a level sensor, discharging directly outboard.
The grey water pump has two operating modes, “AUTOMATIC” and “MANUAL”, which can be selected by means of the control on the synoptic panel (1).
In “AUTOMATIC” mode, reaching the 3/4 level enables the pump, which remains active until the low level is reached.
If the pump is active, switching the auto/manual selector stops the pump.
In “MANUAL” mode, press the “MAN” button to start the pump.
The pump remains active until the low level is reached.
If the level is lower than the low level, the pump will not start, not even pressing the “MAN” button.
The tank level should always be checked using the warning lights on the main electrical panel or, in any case, the tank should be emptied through the manual control before entering port to avoid having to cruise out to the sea again to empty it.
The alarm is triggered with the high contact of the main grey water tank, but the fresh water pump is not disabled.
Do not discharge soapy waters drained by washing machines and dishwashers in the harbour, inside marinas or near beaches, because of the large amount of foam produced.
To increase the reliability and safety of the system, it is possible in case of a fault in the grey water pump, to drain by means of the black water pump. Under such conditions, it is necessary to ensure the proper opening of the concerned manifold valves.
The system is equipped with anti-odour siphons to allow for regular flow and avoid the formation of unpleasant odours.
Do not pour any corrosive product into the washbasins or showers or products at high temperatures, as they could cause damage to the grey water system.
Totally empty the system and the grey water tank before the lay-up period in order to prevent any problems with freezing.
At least once every three months:
Carry out the complete cleaning of the tank;
Carry out the complete cleaning of the pump.
At least once every six months check the status of the pump.
Do not activate the grey water pump manually if the level for the automatic stop is the lowest, to keep the pump primed.
